“The Stingray 230SX Cuddy Cabin is a perfect candidate for the Performance ST12 or ST16 Trim Tabs. My boat has a heavy eight cylinder engine (496 Mag) and a light bow which causes the boat to come up on plane really slow especially when we have it loaded with passengers and full of gas.
The installation was really simple once I had an idea of where I was going to mount the trim tabs and where I thought the ¼” pipe nipples would come through the hull. My boat has some pods on the outer edges so I decided to mount the trim tabs inside of the pods since it would still allow enough clearance between the trim tabs and the out drive. I installed the ST16 (12×16) Performance Tabs on my boat and I also have plenty of room between swim platform ladder and the end of the trim tab.
The people at Bennett answered all my questions and gave me suggestions throughout the whole process of buying and installing the trim tabs. I also found very informative YouTube videos on the Internet that talk about troubleshooting and how the trim tabs work. The folks at Bennett are GREAT. Give them a try, you won’t regret it.”
“Because of the research I did between Bennett and Lenco.”
Sea Trial Results:
“Before I installed the trim tabs my boat ran extremely fast (70+ mph) when the water was flat, but when the lake got choppy I had to slow down to around 20-30 mph or we would get pounded. The boat also took awhile to come up on plane when we had the boat loaded with people.
After I installed the trim tabs my boat still runs extremely fast but when the lake gets choppy I just add a little bit of trim and the boat settles down. I’m still able to run as fast as I want no matter what the water conditions are. The boat also comes up on plane extremely fast no matter how many people I have on the boat or how much gas I have. This is a completely different boat with the ST16 Performance Trim Tabs.”
